i'm missing my shepherd's pie like a high-maintenance chick missing her diamonds

i bought this dress from my friend john while lamenting that, even though it's comfortable as hell and i love the colours, all my trendy new york friends would fail to embrace it like i have.

some nip/tucks helped matters quite a bit.

i've always been a fan of this style - i think it's called a mullet hem but that's gross so i'm not gonna think about it - because it reminds me of amanda palmer's skin.graft skirt and other such burlesquey things.

i'm sort of cheating a little bit - i don't like how many posts i had last time i posted, and i'm not sure if i'll be well enough today to manage anything about clothes, so here is a picture of my night last night.

well, two pictures.

some of my friends and i sat on top of a parking garage to watch the fireworks, which were... fireworks. they were pretty for a little bit and then meh.

it was wonderful though. july is my favourite month, and the fourth of july has always signaled the beginning (and the beginning of the end) of summer to me.
